Quiraing in Winter
Quiraing in Winter

Winter 2017/2018 was unusually cold and snowy on Skye. Normally the Gulf stream keeps the island just warm enough to make Winter a grey and dreich affair, but despite the hassles that snow and ice brings, it also adds that extra little bit of brightness to the short days.

The Trotternish ridge and the Quiraing are always a joy to photograph, with ragged peaks and jumbled troughs slicing into the low sunlight, scattering across this massive landslip. The added atmosphere of sub-Arctic weather adds to the drama.
