An informal one day seminar to help local businesses to understand basic issues around website design, marketing and search engine optimisation.
Small groups of up to 12 SME's were invited to attend these informal events, which took them through the basics of how a website is constructed and which factors affect the site's performance from a users view and from a search engines point of view.
Attendees were also given a chance to put their websites up for review by their peers and from an expert point of view. They were then given advice on how to improve their online presence using freely available tools like Google Analytics and Adwords.
Since social media is also a large part of marketing websites, a large part of the day was given over to Rene Looper of Tuminds Ltd. a specialist in social media, and a former hotel owner.
